Why timber window quotes take longer than the windows

Most UK bespoke timber window quotes take longer to arrive than the windows would take to make.
That is not a manufacturing problem. Cutting and assembling a sash window is a known quantity, and has been for two hundred years. The delay sits before any of that: in survey diaries, in estimators carrying forty jobs, and in the habit of treating every enquiry as a bespoke event that has to be priced from zero.
The trade has adapted to it. Nobody expects a straight answer on price or dates any more, and programmes get built around that assumption. Then the window arrives late anyway and the fitter carries it.
We do it the other way round. We publish trade pricing, so the number does not need to be invented each time. We hold production slots ahead, so a date is a date rather than a hope. Ask for a delivery date on the call and you get one.
That is the whole offer. Not cheaper for the sake of it, not a different product. A number and a date, on the phone, while the job is still live.
FAQ
- How quickly can you price a schedule?
- Send it and ask. We will tell you on the call when it will be back.
- What if my main supplier is fine but slow?
- Then use us as a second supplier for the weeks they are booked out. We are not asking you to move anything.
- Do you work with contractors as well as installers?
- Yes, trade only. We never install, so we never compete with the people we supply.
